New Nephew and Date Night

First, Congrats to my sister, Lori and brother-in-law on the birth of their second son, John Nathan! He was born earlier today and mom and baby are doing great. Hopefully it won't be long until we can meet him in person, but here is a picture my mom emailed earlier.

Second, Seth and I had an evening to ourselves, which we haven't had in a long time! We dropped the kids off at Seth's parents (which was their first night away from us ever) and went into Dallas for dinner at Red Lobster and a Journey concert. The concert was Seth's father's day gift and he enjoyed it. This morning we went to the movies (which we haven't done in forever) and saw the new Batman movie, after that we went back to Seth's parents to pick up the kids. It was nice to have some time for ourselves. Thanks again Mike and Paula for keeping the kids! I hope you aren't too worn out. Here is a picture from the concert, we were in the lawn seats. The concert was packed.

What will she be wearing?

Macy has the bad habit of getting into her dresser during naptime and bedtime and completely changing her clothes. It is always a suprise as to what she may be wearing when I go to get her up. A couple weeks ago, I went in to get her and she was asleep wrapped in a blanket in her warm pajams (the kind with feet) and socks on her hands; I guess she was having trouble staying warm in this 101 degree weather. Here she is showing off her outfit this morning (with a little breakfast on the shirts).

Coupons

I decided it was finally time to get my coupons more organized and that my little accordion file wasn't working anymore, so I just finished putting them into a notebook.

Before:
And after:

It is nice to have them where I can see all of the coupons and have them separated out by stores as well as by section of the store.

Seth has already said he refuses to be seen with me in a store with the new notebook.

McDowell's 40th Anniversary

Another part of our busy week was Seth's parents 40th anniversary! Seth's sister, Sherry, and her family came to help celebrate. Seth's other sister, Laura, and her family could not come due to Fifth's Disease. (Fifth's Disease and pregnancy are not a good combination, and my doctor said 100% absolutely no contact with them, so they chose to stay up there. Sorry again Rob and Laura.) Anyways, we missed their family, but still had a nice time. The kids enjoyed getting to see Grandma and Grandpa for most of the weekend as well as their aunt and uncle and cousins.

VBS

This past week was VBS. It was Shawnee Trail's and Macy's first VBS. It was a good, but busy week and overall a success for being Shawnee Trail's first one ever. We had about 40 kids in attendance. I was in the nursery and took a bunch of pictures of the activities. Here are a few that have the kids in them:

Care Calendar

I recently used this website Care Calendar, to setup meals for a new baby family at church. People can pick a day online to take a meal to the family and others can see what others are making, so there aren't the same meals. It also sends out reminders to the person making the meal. It was definitely easier than calling everyone or trying to get them to sign up at church! Anyways, I just thought it was a neat website, so I thought I would share!

Update on McDowell Child #3

Today I went to my follow up ultrasound appointment to make sure the baby is growing the way she needs to since she was measuring on the small side (so did Macy and Charlie, so I wasn't concerned). Everything looked great and the doctor was very pleased with her growth! So thankfully he won't make me take the protein supplements that he threatened me with last time. I took Macy with me, she was very excited to get to see them take pictures of the baby, but once we got in the dark room for the ultrasound, she wasn't too excited anymore and wanted to go home. Thankfully she made it through without any huge meltdowns. Next appointment is the glucose test, fun!

This week has been super busy, but I will post more about that later!

I promise this isn't turning into a couponing blog but...

Look at what I got for free (expect for tax):
All these shampoos/conditioners, PLUS Herbal Essences is doing a promo on some of the bottles to get a free manicure or pedicure at a local salon. So 12 bottles and a pedicure for free all thanks to a sale at Kroger and coupons!

How does he make a big mess with a little piece?

I ran a couple errands this afternoon and got a York Peppermint at one place and shared it with the kids. I gave Charlie a piece about the size of a nickel expecting him to just eat it in one bite and when I went to get him out, this is how he looked...

Free Johnson's soap

Go here http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=rgardzu38101945&bt=vi&o=51057&c=JB&p=LvUgYxHB and you can print two $2 off coupons for two Johnson's Buddies Products. At Target and Walmart and they have the Buddies bars (there are two in the picture in the previous post) for $0.97, so you can get 4 free bars of soap! My kids seriously have enough of these to last until they are teenagers.

Guess how much I paid for these groceries...

I love coupons! Here are a couple deals I got this morning. Can you guess how much I paid for all this stuff from Target: The original total was like $30 something, but I paid $3.52, BUT was issued a $5 Target Gift Card for buying the diapers, so it was like getting paid $1.48 to take them! Yeay!

How much do you think I spent on these 3 packs of diapers from Walgreens?: If you guessed nothing, you are right! I actually got an overage of like 30 something cents, I bought a thing of mints at the same time, and don't have the receipt in front of me. Yeay Coupons! The diaper coupons are found in the store, so you don't have to already have them. I thought about explaining how to get them on here, but it is kind of long, so email me if you want to go get your own. I plan to get a bunch of them!
