Poison Control

Charlie was bouncing in his jumperoo this afternoon and I was messing around with the camera, taking pictures to see the difference of the settings and I took one of Charlie leaning back and I looked at the picture and he had a blue glow coming from his mouth. And I thought was really strange and couldn't figure out what in the world was wrong with the camera and after fooling with it for a minute, I looked up at Charlie and he was leaning back again and I saw the blue again so I put my finger in there he had a glob of blue playdough stuck on the roof of his mouth. Whoops!

Back to the 50's

Tonight was the Fall Festival at church. Macy was a 50's poodle skirt girl and Charlie was a greaser. We tried to draw on side burns on Charlie, but they just looked like weird birthmarks, so then we wanted to see what it looked like if we tried to do his whole head and it just kept getting progressively worse (see picture below), so I had to throw him in the bath and quickly clean him up before we left. In the yard before we left. Here they are posing at church. Charlie looks like he is being swallowed by this pants.

Macy and Charlie enjoyed the toddler room with the games and trick-or-treating in the hall of classrooms, but Macy was TERRIFIED of the main room. There was big inflatable treasure chest with a skeleton that popped out and she saw that and ran out screaming and refused to even go in there. They had a nice place set up to take pictures, so I dragged Macy over kicking and screaming to take a picture. You can see she still isn't happy in the picture.

StoryBook Forest

Tonight we went out to Lake Arcadia to see some medium quality storybook scenes and to get candy.

Here are the kids and I waiting to get in.

Macy going in. Macy in front of a Hansel and Gretel scene.Charlie and I in front of Humpty Dumpty. I thought Macy would love to see Curious George, but she was terrified of him. After we passed him she said "I don't like Curious George anymore!" I held the camera down in front of Charlie and got this shot. Macy at the end, glad to have her bag full of candy (and to be away from Curious George).

Generous Grandparents

Macy and Charlie received an early Christmas present this week from Papa and Grammy Kelsey, a sand and water table! Macy had a great time playing in this morning!

Also, Grandpa Mike and Grandma Paula sent a Halloween package for the kids. Macy went out with me to get the mail and was very excited to see that she got a package!

I knew I should of charged the camera...

The kids and I went out to Chester's Pumpkin Patch today with another mom from church. I was planning on getting a lot of pictures and I took one picture and then camera died! UGH! Here it is and it isn't even that good, but at least I got one and they were both in it.
We still had a good time. Macy especially LOVED the pony rides! We also enjoyed the petting zoo area and the hayride. It was a fun outting!

Our Nutritious Dinner Tonight...

I picked up the Sneaky Chef cookbook from the library this week and did a lot of pureeing today. Tonight, I fixed chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and a biscuit. It is my usual recipe, but to the chicken, the puree that I added was a broccoli, peas, and spinach puree along with wheat germ and to the potatoes, cauliflower and zucchini. Turned out pretty good! The puree wasn't detectable in the potatoes, but in the chicken you could see a tiny bit of green from the broccoli, but couldn't taste it. I added 1/4 cup of puree to the chicken and potatoes, so it isn't a huge amount, but I know it is more than what we normally eat and every little bit adds up. I would recommend trying it!

Macy and Charlie's friends

Macy made a new friend today with the neighbor dog, a German Shepherd.
Charlie made a new friend too, his reflection in the dishwasher, who he thought was quite funny!

Here are a couple more that I snapped today...

Vegetables

Charlie is a very good eater. He normally happily gobbles up whatever I give him. The only thing I have found he doesn't like are peas.

I guess I can't blame him, they are liquefied peas.

Continuing on the Vegetable theme. Did you happen to see Oprah yesterday? Jerry Seinfeld's wife was on and she wrote a cookbook Deceptively Delicious, she talks about pureeing vegetables and putting them in regular food that kids like, like chicken nuggets, brownies, stuff like that. I put a similar cookbook on reserve at the library, The Sneaky Chef (Seinfeld's book isn't at the library yet). I definitely would like to try some of the things Jerry's wife talked about. If anyone has tried either of the cookbooks, let me know how the recipes are.

The Zoo

Seth had a busy day working today, so the kids and I went to the zoo. They enjoyed seeing the animals and I took the super zoom lens on the camera to play with. Here are a few of the pictures I took:
Since I had the zoom lens on, I had to stand like 30 feet away from the kids to get a picture of them, and I didn't want to look like a weirdo yelling at them from that far away to get their attention, but here is one that I did take of them.

Macy and Charlie Pictures

On Wednesday, I tried to get some pictures of Macy and Charlie sitting nicely together on the chair...

As you can see in the pictures, neither of them were all that interested in doing that. But, I did manage to get this one that I like.

Hear No Trashman

Wednesday mornings are traumatic at our house, because it is when the trash man comes. Macy is terrified of the truck. When she hears him, she covers her ears and gets on the couch and says "Bye trash man!" until he is gone. Overall, I think she is brave for a 2 1/2 year old, but she does have some strange fears, like the trashman, the "big, big TV" (aka the movie theater) and cow mooing sounds played on the computer. So, if there is ever a movie made about a trashman who likes to listen to cows on his computer, you can bet we won't be seeing it.

Cheese...

Here are a few of Charlie playing today this afternooon while Macy was taking her nap. (yes, he still in his PJs in the afternoon).
And this one of Macy is from a few days ago. Can you tell she is saying "cheese!"?
